Introducing Pete Veal

I started playing cricket at a young age and although never played to a high standard, I have bowled, batted and kept wicket (from my goal keeping skills) in club cricket mainly in Oxfordshire and Berkshire evening and weekend leagues. On arriving in Switzerland with boys agreed 7 and 5 years old, I started coaching juniors with Basel Dragons Junior Cricket Club (BDJCC) and finally passed on the baton 10 years later in 2020. It was a wonderful experience to coach all junior ages, including the Swiss National Team and take them on tours to UK, to see them improve not only their cricket skills but their leadership and ability to work as a team whilst learning to deal with huge individual pressure. I also proudly watch boys grow into young men and build friendships for life. The true power of cricket!

I have been privileged to experience Cricket on Ice for the last 10 years and it is a truly fantastic and awesome event I always look forward. Thankfully even Covid could only rob us of one event (2021)….
It is fantastic to join and work with a wonderful group of people, all truly dedicated to the cause, and for once these days, I am one of the youngest!
I really look forward to playing my part in ensuring Cricket on Ice thrives and grows for years to come and to see you all at a bigger and hopefully better Cricket on Ice in February 2023!
